    Interesting cop experience

Riding along the NW motorway last night I spot a cop car up ahead so double check the speedo to make sure I'm all good and continue on past.

Minute or so later red and blues behind me so I pull over, turn the bike off and take off the helmet, cop walks up friendly as and asks for my license. I hand it over he has a quick look at says "this bike isn't registered to you is it?" I say probably not as I only picked in up from Holeshot a couple days ago so the paperwork probably hasn't gone through.

He says no worries, I noticed you looking behind you a bit (which I had been cos I wasn't entirely certain that I'd been under the speed limit as I'd approached him and was being mildly paranoid (new bike is fast yo)) and as the bike is registered to a dealership just checkin.

Cop then says it's all good you can go, sorry for any inconvenience and wanders back to his car.

I didn't feel even slightly harrassed or put out, he just seemed to be on the look out for nicked bikes, which I think is a good thing. Good to see the cops being pro-active about crime in a really professional manner.

Lotsa cop bashing on this site, so thought I'd post a good experiance.

You must look dodgy as sin!!!

I was in full gear, but I'm pretty sure I was watching to see if the cop pulled out behind me as I went past.

I'm not very dodgy looking, ask anybody, I'm respectable as..

The only time i've been pulled over on the bike was because I "looked dodgy". Hah. Same situation, licence check and on my way.

people seem to be pretty anti cop by and large here. or at least the anti ones are vocal about it.

personally i've never been ticketed for something i didnt do, so cant complain on that score. been let off plenty of stuff i've done too. met a few grumpy pricks, but hey thats life. i expect thats a hazard in their job what with the abuse they must take from time to time. by and large, i reckon our policemen are pretty decent

the people deciding where their time is best spent might need some talking to, but i wouldnt know enough about that to really comment

I would have to agree. Got a ticket going to Taupo in the cage two weeks ago, but fair cop. I was pinged at 117 in a passing lane (after lifting my foot) and didn't argue. My last ticket was in 2004 in ScorpyGirls car coming up the Bombay Hills. Prior to that the previous one was back in the days of the MOT black & whites!!!!!!

When I considered all the imperial 3 figure+ velocities (161kph+ for you young folks) I had achieved over the years, I figured that the odds said I had to get caught.

Like st00ji I have been let off quite a few times over the years, so just treated it as a fair roll of the dice.

I know a number of Police Officers, both on and off KB, and would have to say that the vast majority are very dedicated people.

WTF are you serious??? the whole act of person being pulled over for no offence in a first place is a HARASSMENT (only because you "looked dodgey" ...very subjective thing and nothing to do with law)

...regadless of how many clowns will say that: its just their job to "check things", "what if you were a rapists" and other such bullshit!

Also why would he suspect bike is stolen when he didnt even know your name yet and obviously has checked that the bike isnt reported as stolen before pulling you over...

My husband was pulled over the other night - the cops wanted to know why he was riding my bike (registered to a woman, when so obviously ridden by a man) and they also asked what kind of Harley it was ........
it is a Fury they said he was lucky his wife lets him ride her bike!

I now understand why we have so many ticket whine threads. You're failing the attitude test before you even open your mouth. This particular cop seemed perfectly reasonable with his initial suspicions being unfounded.

Yeah man it has to be a conspiracy, he obviously pulled him over to write out every ticket he possibly could! Oh no, that's right, he didn't receive a single ticket...
