    BT @ Southwick (Splapoiler)

    Hi,

Just woke back up ( long story ) after a day at the race.

1st Race - DNF, BT was 2nd behind Metcalf for 4 or so laps & they came together 2 corners before where I was, BT lost 7 places maybe getting going, then took out another guy the corner after me, pushed them both over a big berm, back to 12th maybe, could have been further back, he rode like a demon, god he looked good cornering, got back to 6th or so & the bike expired, oddly enough pretty much exactly where Metcalf & him came together.

2nd Race - BT led for 5 laps or so until Dungey hunted him down, after being passed BT dropped back a few seconds or so, but came back to almost pressuring Dungey, they were gapping the field majorly at this point & then BT must have had an whoops and fell back 3 seconds maybe more, then another few laps later he really lost it, I was thinking he was right out, but he came around just in front of Alessi, next lap Alessi is in front, that was the last time BT was out of 2nd, he & I think Grant ( don't quote me ) passed Alessi & BT checked out to a comfortable 2nd.

Dungey won 1/1 & the Series

BT though was on fire, my personal take was he was faster in the berms than Dungey, it was like he was on rails & seriously quick, but Dungey had great lines & was a deserved winner on the day. BT looked really really good & I never saw him make a serious mistake apart from the 1st race missing corner after restart one.

Other thoughts, the teams pretty much all had a lady rider, so 3-4 bikes, the transporters looked a little bare, it didn't look poor by any means, but I didn't get the impression they were throwing money around either.

A good sized crowd, Southwick is not a great spectator track & an even worse ( unless you're press ) track for taking photo's, but the area is amazingly nice, really nice towns nearby, that I went through anyway.

Toyota Camry's auto gearbox sucks in the rental car, got 9k miles & it's a dog, even the yanks do better.

Marriott Plainville ( yes the town is called plainville !! ), is quite possibly the best value hotel I have stayed at in the US, certainly outside the big cities, the most well maintained & up to date decor etc, big thumbs up.

    Jetlag sucks.

    Nigel

Meant to add Dowd didn't have a great day , though a heap of t-shirts around with his name on & Andrew Short had a shocker, of mega proportions.

It'd have been better if it was a holiday, I tagged two days onto a work trip , in Auckland now, pussy pounder sounds the plan for The weekend.

I reckon bt will want a 1st in the remaining rounds and for Honda to get a better fuel calculator ( bet they never do that again ).

You've got to suspect decoster is a huge influence in how dungey is riding, he is really composed and didn't look on the ragged edge.

i will not this time, but it is possible to rent bikes and ride alot of the socal tracks though tour companies like MX Vacations, they have all brands of bike available,

i am have always turned down rides overseas due to having no medical insurance, but some of them look really fun

Chapparel rent bikes to, unfortunately it's easier on the west coast, have not found anyone on the east coast. Though medical insurance is the biggie.
