I used to want a Nightrod, then I rode one and was bitterly disappointed to the point of disgust really.
They are not really anything special, they don't handle like I read up, and the power was definately not as forthcoming as I liked.
The sound debaffled was gay, not like a Harley, more like a jappa that has a potato rammed up it's jaxi.
I rode the Speed Triple and well, that was that. Ditched the Rocket 111 for the Triple instead. Much better ride, and fun magnet.
There are lots of them for sale for the above reasons. They are out grown quite quickly.
Ducati are cool, and so too a guzzi's.

I really like the Night Rod. It's a pretty good ride too.

Both bikes are from totally different leagues so it must be a mid-life crisis thing. There's nothing wrong with such a change. It's preferable to cross dressing

So basically you are the one who wants the ducati not your dad, just so you can go for a ride on it . fuck if I was your father I would buy the niterod and never let you have a ride on it.

Nothing worse than lusting after a bike, then finally getting on one and not liking it.

Night Rod is the only HD that pushes my buttons, but I don't expect it to be any more "sporty" than any other hd. I'd like to give it a go to see how it rides.

The Streetfighter (at the local dealer) on the other hand has a shiny patch where I rubbed my just jizzed in pants against the tank.

I use to ride my foster Dad's bike but it was a GS550E not in anyway anything that cool. At the time I had a VT 250 so snap. I've ridden a few Harleys now and not disapointing just different. I really like performance bikes though and the Duc is just sex on two wheels in my humble opinion. The love affair hasn't tarnished with ownership.

yes ive most always been a fast jappa man,but have owned a wide glide and a nightrain in the past so im used to harley power, just the ground clearance and the not so harley sound would be my concerns at present.

Each to their own dude! Nightrods actually handle really well for such a long cruiser. Sure they hang up quite easily...but that ain't handling...that's a lack of ground clearance. They make 125HP, and I bet you my left testicle I could dust you and your Speed Triple off from traffic light to traffic light. That's what they're designed to do. And sound? Of course they don't sound like a 45 deg pushrod Harley! Your Speed Triple sounds like a sewing machine...yet you love it. And they're great bikes. But it's a shit moto-x bike.

So you see...if you ride a bike in the manner it was designed...there's no such thing as a bad bike now days.

Dont knock it, I would easily turn to the dark side for a Night Rod Special, traditional colours

Well said that man - I'd bling you, however apparently you've had your quota from me!

Let him buy the Harley if he likes - secretly I think deep down you are worried about him wasting your arse on his Hog! Oh the shame.

Thats the one thing i didn't like about my mates one, .
Plenty of power, gooood brakes, but lacking in ground clearance to make use of the power.

The Night Rod special is the only Harley I've ever really thought was a cool looking bike... in a cartoon villain kind of way. Trouble is when you stick a rider on them they're bent in an approximation of a fencing staple and when they try to corner... fucking laughable. Cool to look at though.
