    A former aquaintance of mine was touring down Marlborough when he got hit in the face by a seagull. He couldn't see a thing, binned it, and the bike came to rest some distance from the road in a paddock. It could've been a lot worse...

    Hawks can become a real problem on early morning cross-country rides. If the low temperatures aren't enough to discourage that sort of behaviour, the hawks should clinch it.
