I'm haven't been that fond of dual compound tyres on my XB in the past because they fluffed up the edges way before the middles were spent.

Got Avon VP2's on at the moment and they seem to be hanging in quite well edge-wise though.

    Nada freeway either..

I think my Scorpion Syncs are supposed to be dual compound but I still run the centres out first (especially when touring, as I carry panniers etc, so a lot of weight). I lean her over plenty, but over long distances, its certainly best to be on the centre of the tyre as much as possible, since you have the best grip with least risk.

Now if only Pirelli would gift me the tyres... I've just finished the 6th set I think? since 2 October 2008. Got another 2 sets sitting in the garage, ready to go on as soon as I need them

    a "bit of topic..lol"

we have 2 sets of Angles, one on the XB and one on the CR... both seam to wearing nicely...! i would have expected the CR's rear to chop out faster, but they both seam to be holding up (and ON) very well!!

missed out on the last track day at Manfeild, i was very interested to see what i could do on the XB ....(was hoping to do around 1:20ish)

    what a ride so far!!!!

My Dunlops (sportmax/roadsmart http://www.dunlopmotorcycle.com/tire...ire.asp?id=101 ) are dual compound, and I'm happy with everything... except for a much greater tendency for them to lock up and skid a bit if I'm being silly while the bike is upright. i.e. I think the centre compound might be a little too "hard".
Measure once, cut twice. Practice makes perfect.
