Saturday afternoon, I misjudged the turn into a car park and gently laid my bike on it's side. A quick look, everything seemed OK, so I went on and did my business. When I came out and gave the bike a closer look, I found that the clutch lever was bent, and it broke off in my hand when I just touched it.
So it's now 2.30 pm. Bay City Motorcycles (the Hyosung agents) close at mid-day. I rang Moto GB (the Suzuki agents – my Hyosung GV250 is very like the Suzuki Intruder 250) and they're open until 3.00 pm.
Frantic phone calls. My wife drops everything and comes and picks me up, and I arrive with broken clutch lever in hand at Moto GB at 2.55 pm, 5 minutes before closing. Yes, they normally stock Intruder 250 clutch levers, sold the last one during the week and replacement stock hasn't arrived. The GN 250 levers they have in stock definitely won't fit my bike.
However, they have traded a Hyosung Comet 250 and will take the lever off that so I can use my bike over the weekend, and order a replacement lever for my bike on Monday morning. The sales staff are wheeling the display bikes indoors while the parts guy unbolts the clutch lever off the Hyosung Comet, they take my contact details, and I'm on my way back to my bike.
Had a fantastic ride today, Tauranga to Whangamata, over to hill and back home via Paeroa - 350 km. Without Moto GB's help I would have been sitting at home like a bull with a sore head.
MOTO GB, YOU ARE CHAMPIONS!!!!!!!! That's what service is, helping someone who doesn't even have your brand of bike. Thanks guys.
