    Have just acquired

    a slightly scruffy KTM 525.

Couple of questions. I've got water, (yes straight water) dripping from the water pump vent port. There's also fresh red silicone around the pump cover and I'm pickin' a previous owner has done the pump but it's still bypassing a seal. Does that mean the pump shaft, (IE: camshaft) is worn? if so can I sleeve it?

TSS sorted me out with a set of plastics for bugger all, be nice to replace the headlight / plastic too, any tips?

Oh yeah, can get seat covers? Or a local who can make one for me?

    Cheers all.

seat covers are pretty easy to get cheeck trade me or your dealer
if the pump is still leaking its possible previous owner replaced seal but not bearing? or maybe they just pulled it off to have a look
haven't seen aftermarket kits with the headlight mask but they must be available

Don't have any 525 experience, you could try PMing Anthrax as he has one or look on ADV rider, there is a huge knowledge base there.

Good to see your taste is improving as you age!

Teh dealer couldn't help with a seat cover, only a complete seat. Good to know covers are getable though, cheers.

Don't have a workshop manual (yet, anyone got a link?) but I'd say the pump probably doesn't have separate bearings. The two Orings and two lip seals and gasket that make up the kit are on order, so I'll find out soon enough.

And yeah, I spotted the road kits on TM, apparently minus headlight...

No, see... 'Er indoors said I was allowed to buy (another) somat as long as it was a machine befiting the dignity inherent in one of such advanced decreptitude.

But dignity was never my strong point anyway, and I figured a 525 would damn soon take care of the decreptitude thing.

Just got to make enough space in teh workshop to work on it...
