If sombody want to take a look up the firebreaks that head over into Wainui where would be a good place to gain access.

Used to get onto them via Summit Rd behind NaeNae or at the saddle of the Wainui Rd. Was a 'few' years ago now....
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Best places to "have a look" are Avro rd and the parkway extension. Other spots require some labour to "see the other side" if you get my drift.

Im up there quite often, and sometimes use it as a commuting detour hehe. Give us a PM if you want a tour.

I picked up my bike from Wellington and in the distance I could see some great hills with trails in the distance heading to the summits....This was sort of behind Avalon? Are we talking about the same or something similar? I wondered on the way home, these could be great trails to head on up, and up...

Yep, those are the ones. There's plenty of fun to be had up there ranging from medium trails, and some nice steep hill climbs. There are some awesome views of the valley and harbour from up top. Mostly clay based, so can get a bit slippery.

Used to be able to go all the way round the back of Wainui and exit somewhere around the Brookfields (Scout) Camp.
