    Vintage bike auction preview

Did a search but didn't see anything posted

There's a viewing for an auction of vintage bikes this friday (24th) at the Deus Ex Machina place.

I'm thinking it could be worth having a nosey, even though I couldn't afford anything they're selling...
Although I do quite like the look of this

I think they are for 'investors'. Not normal folk like us who buy a bike because it ticks our boxes. An investor will crate it up and monitor the resale value while we will have it where we can see and touch it and appreciate it for what it is rather than the value.

    Sad in'nit!

There's a Laverda owner in Rangiora will be cheered immensely by the estimate for lot 53....
Some interesting estimates - some are realistic but some...

The Puch has indeed been tidied up since I last saw it - last time I saw it was a record attempt meet on the Tram road and it wouldn't run properly.
But the noise !!!! you could hear it right up the other end of the closed road.

The estimate on Brian Thomas's stuff is interesting - how the hell do you put a value on that ?

I would quite like one of the Indian Chiefs to park in the lounge to look at every time I sit down. And the WLA outfit to cruise about on. And the Desmo Manx Norton stuff because that shit is well cool.

Dunno...but I was planning on taking my camera anyway....they're motorbikes...not fancy oil paintings that can't withstand a flashbulb.

120kph capability for an Ariel Red Hunter! - the old man got 104mph over the flying kilometer on Foxton Beach on his in 1938!

The Brian Thomas collection is fabulous and a Benelli 250/4 would go down well, but, bejeesuz, where do they come up with some of those estimates......
