Trident rises as a true Phoenix

A phoenix in the true form ..

Been a while ~ Been busy with my Special Trident which fired on the FIRST kick ~ after along and on-going build ~

(Sorted alot more since then ~ ( the fuel tank is wrong and won't fit so I put it in a poly box.. ~ lol )

    ( Looking for a good T150V fuel tank (Export ) )

Get the grin on my face ~

Thanks ~ Might add the choice of t120 Mufflers with Paul Bryant's Big Bore header (one piece) pipes has been a superb choice ~

    Sounds fantastic ~

The bike has a shopping list as long as your arm..built form bits and pieces with the highest standard ~ in a back yard!!!

The tank mounting bracket is different between a breadbox tank and a teardrop. I think i still have a breadbox? bracket (if you want to modify it) somewere, and a side cover. Bloody hoarder i am, i sold mine in 1991. I will
    have a look

Actually a 120 triple is one of the most out of balance engines there is....you should know that Laverda gave up on the idea. But a Trident has got to be one of the best sounds in the world....right up there with the Commer TS3.

It was great to listen to that!
Apart from anything else, made me realise the VFR's not the noisiest bike around.
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

Just realized that I been a tad slack on this post as I have posted another U tube clip and with the carbs sorted ~ among a myriad of issues as one finds when building bike from a box of bits ~

Please ` excuse the sock line ~ ...lol and the shitty attire.. after all it is a workshop ~~ I think !!!

I an fast approaching the completion now .. and working on the rear brakes now.. recalling that a 1974 Trident NEVER had REAR disc brakes, I have adapted a Hilda Blackbird rotor to a Hinckley Sprint caliper5 and master cylinder. The master cylinder had to be mounted on the left side as the gear lever is on the right ~ An engineering feat on it's own ~

And YES it has been a LONG ~ very long rocky path as I built and designed 90% of this on my own back ~

The front is done. with XJ Turbo Yammmie forks and Hilda CBR F 1000 calipers.. came together very nicely ~

I am very impressed with that front end. And the bike generally. Good job!

Laverda used a 120 degree crank for 8 years so for close to the same amount of time as Triumph

Only with a 3-1 on it

I am so close to launch ride ride.. just tidying around .. and tweaking.. having abash at painting the fuel tank myself.. and had dramas with the seat and grab rail s the combination is a real mix but now all fits and look fantastic..

What a drama this was.. seat hit the rail.. so mods were in order.. but now sorted ~

As for 120 deg throw cranks, in my apprenticeship the concept was considered a perfect "balance" ~ the fact that Triumph simply punched them out willy nilly does not help and the potential for radical improvements is right there ~
