Well Bugger!
I was looking forward to seeing the new steed in action.
Sadly, beach camping is not much fun in half a gale. The exfoliation is great but the eating and sleeping is no fun, which is why I pushed it out past the equinox. So unless your middle name is Canute (and even he had mixed success), then there's not much we can do.
I'm confident that there will be other chances though.
I may not be as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I always was.
Either weekend works for me.
There is a fall back option at a camp ground about 5k up the beach at Glinks, if the camp down the beach isn't a goer. Really basic facilities but cheap as chips too.

I'm about to ask for a leave pass .....

At the moment I'm leaning toward 20/21st.

20 / 21st no good for me Raetihi Ripper trailride that weekend.
6 / 7th would be great but i suspect im' in the minority there.
Oil - i recommend , peanut or baby oil.
Rubber - the ribbed ones are best
Pressure - make sure you relieve it before it blows
Is that what we were talking about
Here for a good time, not necessarily a long time
Right, the majority has it - November 20th/21st it is (sorry Mark).
I plan to do a bit of reconnaisance......reconaissance............reconn .......go and have a look between now and then, just to make sure things are as I remember.
Keep you posted.
On the other hand, we could make it a real adventure ride and just take a chance....

Cool, locked into my calendar.
Maybe you should start another thread with the ride info in the title, as a few people might not find this one hidden away in here.
Cheers
Chris.
Thanks for the suggestion Chris. I thought about it. However, the reality is that the place I am planning to camp on the Saturday may not be strictly legal. I don't anticipate any problems as I think it is tolerated because it is well looked after and consequently may even be beneficial to the surroundings. At worst, we will wind up at Glinks Gulley for the night. In any case, it suits me to keep the numbers down so that we don't attract too much attention. I think 5 or 6 max would work quite well.

I doubt it (and I know your comment is tongue in cheek). We will cope however it turns out. I deliberately wanted to leave a bit of uncertainty about it. After Oz, the "take it as it comes and deal with it" aspect appeals
What I actually had in mind was to head to a campsite first, so that we can unload and then go play in the sand as light as possible. I will have my little compressor along so that we can play with tyre pressures and make the most of it.

Right, next question.
Since we are all agreed that we are go for November 20/21, as I previously mentioned, if there is enough interest, I am happy to do an Oz trip photo evening on Friday 19th. This could of course include refreshments of various types.
Mark has even offered to haul a projector up for us. However, if there are only going to be 2 or 3 interested, it is not worth his while.
So could I have a show of hands, please?
Remember that it doesn't have to be restricted to those coming on this ride.
