I missed out on a Husaberg 650 motard which was going cheap. Would have been good fun up where I am, thinking of a WR250 or 450 for after work hoons through the desert tracks...

Still not decided on what I'm gonna do though, I've received very mixed information about the difficulty and expense involved so will do a little more digging before I decide to leave it here.

It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.

Has anyone shipped a bike from NZ to Australia before? What are the hoops I need to jump through and what are my best options for a 12-18mth stay?
I moved to Oz a few years ago - took all my stuff! Car and bike. Its not as bad as they all say. Cost of shipping is one expense for sure. yes you do need to pay GST - but thats only 10% in Oz, and on the cost of the bike. Check around and search if they have them in Oz, otherwise you will need to get a valuation in NZ. You will need to have owned it for over 12 months to qualify, and you will need to find a bike shop/come whatever, to VIN it for Australian registration.

Is it worth it? YES I say - but that is me. I love my bike and wouldn't part with it - yeah sure I could've bought a new one, but then hey, if I wanted to come back earlier, I may not have been able to take it with me, and then would have to sell it first.

Whereabouts in Oz are you going? I still have contact details around Brisbane for a guy who can vin it. Costs are not exhorborant like folk believe.

If you wanna do it - make it happen! There is alot of unknown out there too

I'm living in Adelaide but will take whatever route is easiest. It's a model commonly found in Australia so shouldn't have too much hassle from that point of view - I'll just have to sort out a standard exhaust because currently it's quite loud.
