I went to the last auction and some of the bikes fetched very high prices....Triumph Hurricane went for over $50K if I recall plus 'buyers premium'
...and I heard that the R90s that went for ...23K(?) sure wasn't a start and ride purchase.
There is a difference between 'beautiful restoration" and " great runner"...I prefer the latter.
Saying that...a totally unoriginal 1960 Triumph Thunderbird went for over 6K on TM the other day...from a 1$ reserve, and there is a Ducati Darmah all in bits at 5K...yet a rebuilt commando went for what would to me seem a reasonable 10K, with all the work and expense done.
DeMyer's Laws - an argument that consists primarily of rambling quotes isn't worth bothering with.
