    Goodbye tinted visor

Was going along SH1 from Welly back home, battling crazy winds tonight on my 250 and then BAM! a freak gust lifts my head and my visor unlatches on one side!

I keep my focus on the road and try to ignore it but know that its gonna get worse. Maybe if I stay in the same lane and keep my head down I'll get home fine.. try not to panic!

But shit I'm in the wrong lane! Habit catches up to me and I turn my head to switch lanes and SNAP! There goes my visor. Ooh wow there's heaps of daylight left.. but shit it's noisy. And my eyes! Crap why are all these tears streaming?! Oh god what if my visor smashed into someones car?? Oh shit.. shit.. don't turn your head.. don't!

I turn my head and the wind almost takes my head off. OUCH! Oh shit.. WTF?! Why am I going 140k's?? Oh shit. Then I speed off home, sit at the kitchen bench and text my girlfriend. End of story.

If you can make it on Kiwibiker you can make it anywhere.

Riding without a visor is a right bitch...

Next time, just pull over and put it back on. Usually plenty of space on the shoulder of the motorway, although trucks are fucking scary.

Riding without a visor in good weather is great, but not when the weather is shitty. What a bummer!

There's nothing quite like getting a bumble bee in the eye at 60 or 70 kph. I know this from the days before there were such fangled things as full face helmets.

They are great in summer, but in Jan of this year I got slammed by a bumble bee, it splattered on the bridge of my nose above my glasses and then in it's final act managed to sting me. I am allergic to bee stings so by the time I got home my face was the size of a watermelon and I could hardly see

i love my open facer and use it 99% of the time. last time i used a full face was when i hit the paraparas at 5am in july... thought it would be warmer. didnt work as the visor kept fogging up on the inside, so i rode with it up. lol. good thing it wasnt summer as i had no glasses underneath. bugs could have been an issue.

the bugs and stuff dont hurt as much as youd think. hail and rain is a different story. lol.

I just have my visor open a little bit in summer, don't like the bugs in my eyes and my eyes water anyway. I had to pull over to pick a huuuuuge bug out of my husband's eye = gross! and painful!
Open face helmets scare me = I already smashed my face in a car accident once - don't want to do it on a bike, but I can imagine it must feel nicer wearing an open face helmet.

I have a cheap hat I wear sans visor on the moped in the summer. Always with eye protection though.

Been there, done that, hated it. Same kinda situation too! Visor came loose, headcheck on the motorway, bye bye visor..

Pulled over and chucked my sunnies on til I could get to the nearest shop, but not a fun lesson to learn!
