When doing some of the basic stuff on a bike, accessing common areas, changing bulbs etc, it's actually best to use your bike's toolkit. You quickly find out how deficient it is, and can odd tools, so you don't find out too late, the hard way in the middle of nowhere.
Other option is to replace bolts with more common heads, so you need less tools.
