I used some of those strips to fix the radar detector to my bike. Just a standard sized detector. I paid $7 for it from Ram Solutions, and used all of the strips that were included to mount it.

I'm surprised that it didn't work. I use it to suspend my radar detector in the car and it has only a tiny strip holding it. It stays on fine.

I also use it to hold my helmet camera onto the side of the helmet. It has never fallen off. I trust it implicitly...well, actually I do usually run a cord round the camera just in case, like...but have never needed it.

You do have to really push it together to get it to engage properly but I'm sure you would've noted that for yourself.

There is velcro, and then there is velcro that works. After 2 years with a detector secured with the good velcro, ive still got the detector.

I'm just using two small strips of generic brand velcro, I have to pry it off pretty much, meaning there is no chance of it falling off on it's own accord.

Pelican case rubber-mounted with bolts to ram solutions ball, then ram solutions mount. Pelican has normal rubber inside then a thick layer of foam that wraps around the radar detector.

Almost 100% waterproof (I've been through storms with it no problems) and bounces down gravel tracks and rough roads probably on every ride.

Ok, so it probably cost the better part of $200 all up, but its not going anywhere and was the most indestructible method I could think of.

Yes but your RAM mount I assume holds your detector up high and proud for everyone to see? My $2 solution is just as secure and allows me to place my radar out of sight.

My detector is held to the bike by gravity and velcro from Spotlight. The battery pack is secured to the back of the helmet with a velcro patch as is the little HARD sender on the side of the detector (if fitted).

No worries so far.

So where do you put it that is out of sight but can still pick up signals? I thought they had to sit flat and have clear line of sight?

Sits on top of one of my ram air tubes directly behind the fairing. It picks up signals very well, and being a V1 with the directional arrowseven they work well where I have it placed. I've read of people on here who have their detector in their pocket or tank bag and still working. Only metal will disrupt the signal, material and plastic are fine.

You are talking about radar right?...laser will not get picked up if you have the datector in the pocket...not that it matters because you have like virtualy 2 seconds to react..

Yeah I'm aware that it won't get laser, but like you say you have little time to react. Not much room up on the dash of the gixxer, so where I have got it is better then not having it at all.
