Plan to upgrade but have questions? Answers are right here

This is for the 10 people or so a week that I see coming on and saying "I just got/am getting my full, and I am upgrading my bike, what should I get?. this is the answer.
If you like it, maybe it could be made a sticky?

its like finding a woman. You have to test ride a bunch. some look good but just dont do all the things you want to your satisfaction, some look like shit, but once you get on, you're amazed at how much fun you're having. Some are easy and love a good rough-housing or a thrashing, and others are delicate, needy little machines that will make a broke man out of a billionaire, so you have to try lots of different ones, before committing to one in particular.

Similarly, you might come across a few that are of a similar vintage, looks, and come from the same factory/region, however they will have been treated differntly, the kays may differ heavily, and some have even been modified, in order to increase the quality of the ride or aesthetics.

The reality is that you probably won't be lucky enough to find something that suits all of your wants and needs perfectly, they may be out there, but they are often unattainable for any number of reasons.
You might have to test 30, or 40, or even more, but hey, how fun would life be if the first bike/woman (choose either) you test rode was the perfect one? sometimes you just dont quite appreciate something untill you have experienced the alternative, and lets face it, variety is the spice of life.

test ride everything you can get your grubby fingers on. whether its 'available' or not, that is, if you can manage to swing it (excuse the pun...)

    This is obviously all bullshit.

A GSXR1000 suits everyones needs, whatever they may be. You simply can not beat it.

Edit: Seriously though, the original poster is on the money. Test what interests you and some that hadn't occured to you, could have a nice surprise. Also, if a salesman at a dealership is trying to steer you away from a particular model onto something different, it doesn't mean he's a ripoff scumbag. Most sales people in this VERY competitive market are well aware that they can't afford to burn customers and more often than not, will have your best interests in mind.

You're a fricken dreamer man. What colour's the grass on your planet? The only way a Busa is better if you're stepping up from a GN125 and want something docile.

There is no way in hell that a Hayabusa can even begin to compete with the sheer robot fricken ninja awesomeness that is a GSXR Thou'.........

Do not take the above posters advice kiddies, he likes rough man sex in seedy public toilets......
