I have uploaded all of the locations of the bike parks listed by the Auckland City Council to Zenbu.co.nz so that I can export them to a file to load onto my GPS.
For those that don't know Zenbu is an open source GPS community for finding hard to find stuff.
If you want to download these bike parks for yourself go to http://www.zenbu.co.nz/search?q=motorbike+park and follow the instructions. I think you have to create an account to download or to set your own ones up.

If you have a garmin gps, and run the NZ open gps maps, they will flow through automatically as part of the POI.

Que? I have garmin, I have free lifetime map updates from garmin. Are you suggesting I also load a different set of maps or instead?

Instead of the Garmin maps: http://nzopengps.org/ or search on here, they have been discussed. Advantage is you can submit errors to forum, new releases every week, so more up to date. Don't support lane assist however. POI is the zenbu database, so can also be updated, and it's extensive.

Long as you have a backup of the Garmin Maps (or can re-send to unit from PC) I'd give the NZ Open GPS Maps a shot, see what you think. When I used the Garmin maps a couple of years ago, there were a couple of annoyances on a regular route where it didn't have the correct info... on NZ Open GPS it worked fine. Even if it didn't, I could submit a correction and have it correct a week later... Garmin can't even come close.
Same thing with POI (but not updated every week). Update all information on Zenbu, then it will come across.

Updates are not such a big deal if you stick to your own stomping ground. But if I did that there would be no point to a GPS bar the speed camera warnings.
If on the other hand you are using it Updates are essential if you don't want to be sent the wrong way down a one way or sent the long way because it thinks there is a no right turn where there isn't.
My old GPS sucked because there was no facility to update and it did not know about the motorway from the north shore to Hobsonville so a trip to Hobsonvile from Albany (when you know the street name but not where it was always via the harbour bridge.
I would not own a GPS at all if it were not for the fact I like going to places I have never been.

Depends when your map is from, but from someone that is constantly updating data, tracking new roads etc (and I've even turned it into a game, to see how many corrections I can locate) the amount of data thats changing is pretty high...
Obvious one at moment would be Manukau, a lot of extra road there, I see google maps has finally updated the southbound onramp, been changed for moooonths now. NZOGPS had the ramp shortly after it was opened. Toll road... on map before opened (just not routable) etc etc.
I love it... can go anywhere I like, pretty much can't get lost, and pitching up at some small strange town, even middle of night, I can locate where I need to be and go straight there without an issue.

Not lost for days... no... but ask Toto what he thinks of Christchurch... he's seen the most of it of any visitor, spending 2 hours going round it...

I had hoped people in other cities might load their cities.
Which would be most helpful should I ever leave Auckland...
But yes as I become aware of other ones or at least he location of the listings I was going to add others.
