Aprilia's New Zealand agent, Salero Holdings Ltd (Triumph NZ in drag) has sent me a recall notice. Indeed a double whammy.
The first is a 2008 recall for a starter motor relay. The second is a 2009 recall for, wait for it gentle readers, a speed sensor connector.
"Hitcher," I hear you ask, "Isn't that the very same speed sensor that required over nine months of polite badgering, culminating in a not-too-subtle threat before Triumph NZ grudgingly coughed one up in a particularly bad-natured manner?"
Yes it is.
"Hitcher, wasn't that recall notice actually issued by Aprilia prior to your dealings with those lovely people at Triumph NZ last year?"
Indeed it was. Sigh.
One will check and make sure that the necessary parts for these recalls have found their way to an official Aprilia service agent near me before one makes arrangements to book in for the official "fix".
Perhaps this is a sign of better things to come for owners of Aprilias covered by factory warranties at this end of the planet. One certainly hopes so, not least of that wish being to salve the tingling in one's loins at the thought of a Shiver 1200 coming soon to a an official Aprilia showroom near me.
