Cog Aprilia's New Zealand agent finally getting their shit together?

Aprilia's New Zealand agent, Salero Holdings Ltd (Triumph NZ in drag) has sent me a recall notice. Indeed a double whammy.

The first is a 2008 recall for a starter motor relay. The second is a 2009 recall for, wait for it gentle readers, a speed sensor connector.

"Hitcher," I hear you ask, "Isn't that the very same speed sensor that required over nine months of polite badgering, culminating in a not-too-subtle threat before Triumph NZ grudgingly coughed one up in a particularly bad-natured manner?"

    Yes it is.

"Hitcher, wasn't that recall notice actually issued by Aprilia prior to your dealings with those lovely people at Triumph NZ last year?"

    Indeed it was. Sigh.

One will check and make sure that the necessary parts for these recalls have found their way to an official Aprilia service agent near me before one makes arrangements to book in for the official "fix".

Perhaps this is a sign of better things to come for owners of Aprilias covered by factory warranties at this end of the planet. One certainly hopes so, not least of that wish being to salve the tingling in one's loins at the thought of a Shiver 1200 coming soon to a an official Aprilia showroom near me.

    Got details?

And keep the loins out of it if you please.

For one that enjoys the longer distance aspect to riding, one would think one wouldn't be happy with back end support that is... well... lacking.

Must add excitement to ones riding I guess?

btw, with Mt Eden losing its brands... who deals with Aprilia in Auckland now? Anyone know?

That be the Donk In Question. Apparently the next cab off the rank after the Dorsoduro is some sort of 'soft roader' before it ends up in a Shiver. An extra 2 litres in the fuel tank department would be most welcome too, Mr Aprilia...

According to Salero Holdings, Mt Eden is still an approved Aprilia service centre. Whether Mt Eden still sells them is another matter entirely.

    Hypermotard 1100.

Spied a black one the other day with AM pipes. Yum, apart from the duckbill (easy fix).

According to my visit to M.E.M.C this morning there is no longer a M.E.M.C
The shop is empty, the signage has gone, and the lease signs are up.
There are no notices on the door explaining anything (closed or moved).

    Someones information needs updating.

I guess nothing new under the sun then? I well remember you posting about that particular peculiarity pertaining to aforementioned part.

    Salero Holdings' for one.

While only a handful of people will have Aprilia Shivers subject to these factory recalls, one imagines that there are somewhat more owners of recent model Aprilias in the greater Auckland region who may require parts and servicing. Heaven forbid that they take their bikes to anybody other than an 'approved' Aprilia service centre, unless Triumph/Salero has decided not to get quite so snotty about this as they have been known to previously.

When you pay premium $$$, you expect service to match, and they don't deliver.
