    used to own a xs750

but I would never describe it as a classic bike

great engine, good brakes elastic frame

    great idea but poorly executed

cam chain sprocket is an intregral part of the crankshaft - when that fails the engine is effectively totalled

seeing any still mobile is like finding rocking horse sh!t

one of the few bikes that I sold that I never regretted selling

Fantastic road bike.I stupidly bought a sr500E(after a Honda 500/4),Sold that within a few months and got an XS750E.Great road bike biggest drawback was the rise and fall on the shaft drive and resultant ground clearance problems, but most of the time was just as fast as the gs750,more comfortable more economical, great sounding triple.

had the later F model with the larger tank

never compared it against the GS750 but it would eat honda 4's for breakfast and top gear roll ons was a good match for a Z1 60 - 80mph

mine had aftermarket pipes and exhaust note was good

but the elastic frame did not inspire confidence

In their time the XS750 produced more torque between 3-5000rpm than any other bike on the market
Rolling down to idle speed in top gear & winding the old girls up didn't produce any drive line snatch all the way to redline and 1st gear was way long (pull to nearly 130km/h).
The first models (D & E) threw 2nd gear too easily.

    Had a XS750G and a XS850

    Triplenut races a 850

    Road going XS750

I've still got one - had it for nearly 25 years!
Hope to do a restoration job on it (someday) and I know it will need rebore/pistons/rings - any suppliers contacts would be welcome
as an aside, I know a couple of ways to fix the 2nd gear jumpout problem ( one is full fix, one is a (good) bodge)
Had a sidecar on it for a couple of years - bombing up the M4 at 70mph with missus and sprog in chair and trailer on behind got some looks.

    Thumbs down

    Hey Ben

Thats great, BUT WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO PAY ME for the clipons that you have had for almost a year and not yet paid for. Mate, you may be short on cash, but how about you either return them or give me the money. Also, your shoes are still in my garage from when you left them here.

    cheers

Simon (getting pissed off with calling and texting you)

The second gear fix is easy, It is the same problem we get with the XS1100's. If you go to http://www.xs11.com and do a search you can find in depth detail on how to do it.

There is also an XS750/850 forum that may be able to help with the parts you need ,
