Unhappy Stolen: Red 1989 Honda Spada 250 from Auckland (St Johns, 14 October)

    Hey all,
I've been on this forum for a while, mostly reading and learning about how to be a better rider.

Unfortunately last night by bike was stolen from outside my apartment :-(

    Its a 1989 red Honda Spata VT250,
    Plate number 26WUK
It has a distinct custom made tank, customer straight-through exhausts, aftermarket mirrors and fairings, polished frame and has a givi screen.
Location is on Farmhouse Lane in Saint Johns/Glen Innes.

This thing is, the bike was parked between my car and my apartment wall so would've been tricky to get it out of there (1/2m gap) - and it disappeard around midnight last night.

If anyone has seen anything suspicous around the area at the time or seen my bike at all please let me know!

    Thanks, Frank

    Condolences matey.

If I see anyone riding it I'll superman off my moving bike and tackle them.

I assume you've called the police and checked with your apartment complex's supervisor (cctv, suspicious people etc).

Yeah I've notified the Police, asked around. Aparently someone noticed it was already gone at 2am. And there's no cctv here unfortunately

my first thoughts were why would someone go to so much trouble to steal a spada, then I looked at the photos, that's a trick lookin bike you must be gutted.

    Hope you recover it undamaged.

.... back in green and feeling great ....

    Hey thanks,

I couldn't understand it either - it was in a difficult location (between my car and a wall) so I have a feeling someone in one of these apartments knows something they're not telling me. And it's not like someone can just repaint the bike and keep it - its one of a kind.

It's different from the average Spada that's for sure, lot of work gone in to that. Should make it easier to spot.

Hope you get it back fella.

    Spada has returned!!!!!!

Police phoned at 1:30am, said they found some kid riding it in the Tauriwa Reserve in Point England.
Left mirror and undicator was smashed, shifter bent and the fuel tank had been pried open but is otherwise good and running!!

Unfortunaly the kid who stole is will get a slap on the wrist at most, for being under 18

That's awesome news. Can I make a sugestion?

Go to court on the date of his appearances. Find out his name and address and post it here publicly.

Then anyone googling their name will be able to easily find out he's a bike thief. I also know some people in Auckland who've had bikes stolen and I'm sure they'd like to exact some revenge on a thief.

Dirty thieving bastard should at least be made to pay for the damage to your bike! Man, if anyone ever took mine I'd be out for blood...!

Question though, how was he riding it? Did you leave your key in the ignition or something? Or was it hot-wired...?
