The ninja is an awsome bike to blat around town on, a bit weak on the open road but still fun. I know nothing of the hyosung other than it having a bizarrely ugly headlight..

take them both for a ride and get the 1 that feels the best for you. I choose the hyosung but i liked the semi faired look of the gt250s it's kind of like a sv in a way.

Yup, entirely up to you. Both are good bikes. Test ride both if you can.
I'd pick the Ninja but that's me.

Quality and resale value = Ninja

Only reason I got the Hyobag is because I got a hell bargain on it and knew that there is enough crashed ones
around for spare parts knew I was going to beat the daylights out of it.

Try both, buy the one that fits your requirements.

I am yet to read a review rating the Hyosung over the Ninja. Haven't ridden the new ninja but have ridden the Hyosung. Its a fairly good bike and you can't go wrong with it but the engine is a bit awful (compared to my old ninja).

Ride them both and go for the one that feels the best. Can't go wrong with either!

WHADDYA MEAN NINJA!! they forgot 2 of the bloody cylinders! :O

Aside from that little fact the main thing you will find different between them is going to relate directly to your size, taller & bigger persons will tend to find the Hyosung far more comfortable, I personally am not a large or tall bloke by any means but couldnt find myself getting commfy (not after my GPZ550 at least that thing knew it was heavy lol) on the Kwaka as it is skinny & a little too upright for me.

Coming from much bigger bikes my experience with my 07 Hyosung is as a commuter & weekend toy, just clocked up 5000km myself on it & it has been brilliant. Balance is fantastic even with full tank & jammed up bags, it ran extremely well on a recent trip out on the twisties & gets really good gas milage which I have been told is better than the Ninja250.

Gearing leans heavily on the acceleration side & I find it vibrates like a mofo from 5000-5750rpm in any gear (bloody 2banger lol) other than tht power delivery is faultless & with a new can, air fiter, gearing & a tune will become a true animal. At 27hp they are not the fastest bike but are great from low to mid range & will still rev well into the 11krpm+ mark.

Quality of the 07- models improved alot over the early versions & looks mint in black :P The brakes are great if a little soft but easy to fix with fluid & pads. Steering is balanced & lock is not too bad, I have not had it wriggle around on me yet. Tyres are a bit of a funny size but Sport Demons are available in the correct size & not badly priced.

In the end it comes to your personal preference & what kind of riding your looking for, take them both for a squirt to be sure you can enjoy either of them. Feel free to hit me up for any info on the Hyosung & good luck

Thanks for everyones help. Im about 178cm tall. I have tried the hyo GT250R 2010 model that was nice to ride and wasnt too slow either. Have yet to try the Ninja but i just feel that the ninjas seem to be that little bit better, what with build quality and holding their price. But I have yet to decide theres not alot of choice when it comes to late model 250's, theres plenty of old inline 4 ones but lacking in teh reliability department.

You can't go wrong with the ninja really it's an awsome wee bike to ride around on. Not all that fast but still pulls alright and looks really cool. Plus the stock exhaust is quiet enough that the cops will see you before they hear you which has given me more than enough time to slam the anchors before risking a ticket a couple of times. Nimble handling on the twisties and awsome fun to be had riding round the city without breaking the limit before you even manage to hit second.

Ninja for quality, hyosung for looks and price.
Imo the new ninjas are total shit! and that is enterly because i loved the old 4 cylinder ones so much and its just not the same with less cylinders and without the true sportbike look
As far as a learner bike goes though i think they would be great, easily usable power and a good weight balance.
Born Disturbed hit the nail on the head with his post really, but take each for a ride and see what you like

I just realised you were the person who just upgraded from a gn250 to a gsxr250. Why would you want to downgrade to one of these two? Reliability shouldn't be a problem with your current bike.

Well it's kind of hard for a newbie to compare between them - the only useful, notable difference for a new rider would probably be the dimensional/weight difference. I say just pick one. You probably won't regret it either way.

Wait what? Just stick with the GSXR250 if you have one already and save your pennies for something decent when you get your full. The older GSXR will eat either of those two (Ninja and Hyo) for breakfast performance wise.
