Time for a new tyre...

Came home from work yesterday arvo only to have a mate point out my near destroyed rear tire......
The Bridgestone BATTLAX had finally worn to the wire after a mere 13,324 kms.... I usually get around 10,000km tops on my other bikes, but this tire on my speed triple has done ok I think.
Is this mileage acceptable wear?

I am now looking for replacement tire, I need something low cost, and something reasonable to ride on. I only really ride too and from work on the bike which is 116km per day on the motorway.
Anyone got any ideas.
I spoke to Cycle treads, they said it would be $330 fitted for another Bridgestone, and $350 for a Michelin.
I priced elsewhere and was priced considerably more, $470 in fact.... Prices vary a bit...

mich road 2 .. can't go past that tire in any conditionz you know ya got the correct tire under ya or if ya a upright rider grab a low cost touring tire more meat int he center of the tire .. resulting in longer lasting ... COMMUTERS CHOICE !

I tend to get 6,000km on the rear of the SV. Soo I think this milage is pretty bloody good. This fact alone would make me put another Bridgestone on the bike, without too much thought.

I run the stones 709 (i think thats the number) Hard center softer outer, purrfet for the tourer types, for a shade over 300kgs and more talk than a room full of politicians i can averge about 8 k, may be worth a look..... sizing may be the only negative.

I've posted on this very subject with the same tyre...at 13k is unbelievable?! I got nearly 9 or so riding mostly on Aus roads, and more like 7k with a new one which I rode solely on NZ roads.

Can't comment on my current set as they have only done 1-2,000 but I think Motorrad in Wellington seem to be keen on the Conti's for commute riding.

Sheesh .. I killed a Battleax in 4,500 ks ... I'd be impressed with double that - let alone triple ...

I'm using Continental Road Attacks on my 650 - great tyre .. I'd recommend them ... or maybe another of their range as the Road Attacks are semi-sports

What model Battlax?

Best I've had on the S3 was 9000km out of a PR2. Current PP is just over 5000km and nearly toasted, but that's pretty good, as previous PP's have only lasted 4500km max. Suspension mods front and rear have certainly helped with tyre wear..........(rhyme unintentional)

My Tire is a 180/55 ZR17 BATTLAX SPORT TOURING. I got it when bike had 7500km on it, it now has 21,670km on it. I am fairly astonished with it. Tire is poked now though, wire frayed in centre.
Getting new tire on tomorrow hopefully, maybe thurs. $360 for another one the the same.

Well he did say he took it down to the wire ...

I used to run Battleaxe BT45s(?) on the rear and got 16000 odd ks out of them. It was only a 400cc bike though so lightweight and hardly tyre-shredding power. Fairly gently ridden too.

I just had a mich PR2 rear fitted to the daytona last month $360 and getting a Mich PP2 front next week for $250 and that includes fitting so does pay too shop around,I've been running this combo for the last couple of years and find it great for all matters of riding

Curious to see if I would consider riding on it!
