Finding new ways to fall off
G'day
Sick of having to clean and dry my (road) boots on a Sunday night (if going through any creeks) before having to wear them to work on Monday, anyone had any experience of the above boots - I know they won't be up to the top of the range stuff but will they cut the mustard for the occasional adv ride?

RRP is $249.90 (though that was at 12.5% GST) but several shops have them on special at around $199 and I believe Torpedo 7 have some at $140 for this week.

I found the boot sizes to vary as to what you try on....my off road boots are two sizes up on what I normaly wear....best to go to a shop and try them on then order from torpedo......

great idea Kenny - will pop out this afo - just hope for the sake of harmony in the house I don't see a pair of Forma ATVs ($450 or so) and grab them instead

I bought my tech three.s in town and then found them 100 bucks cheaper on torpedo,....by then I knew what size I needed and if I had gone by normal shoe size they would have been too small. Did the same for my trousers,tried them on in the shop for the size then found them on special in Hamilton....saved 110 bucks...

Just been in to Hampton Honda (they are good guys - always impress me) try them on - didn't have my size but did give me an idea of what size I need, they are really high in the toe / instep area so think gear changing may be a hassle, while there I did try on a Forma GT (nice boot - $450) and a Sidi Discovery (awesome boot but $650 - Hamptons said they would haggle) - Still like the look of the Forma ATV

provide better service and reasonable prices and people won,t shop elsewhere.....The shop I tried the trousers on did not have my size..I tried the larger and smaller sizes on but he said they can,t get them for a week,went on tard me and bingo...

Yep, agree with that! I do feel like that with the service I got today if they had my size in any boot I liked under $400-500 I might have seriously looked at them

I get my boots from a local 2nd hand shop.
As new Stylmartin Stormy touring boots for $50
As new Gaerne Aquatech road boots for $80
As new Oxtar Goretex adventure boots for $100
I don't buy new if I can avoid it.

I just bought these Fox Comp 5 boots on TM in mint condition, no mud on them, I'd say used maybe 5 times. Paid $100, so happy with that.
I love my Alpinestar Tech 8's, great for trail riding/enduros, but they're too stiff for longer road miles, they give me sore pressure points after a couple of hours. The Fox boots are real comfy and look like they still give plenty of support where you'd need it.
Now, time to test them out for real, I've got a 1300 km trip this week from Te Anau to Nelson.... via plenty of gravel
