    Talking Vision of the future

We are all bikers here (that is clearly an assumption, but I will stick with it as it fits this thread). And bikes are a big part of our life. We also have things we are wishing for, dreams and hopes. I have a bunch.

But what do you wish for in regards to biking/bikes?

Personally I have this dream that when my youngest is 15-16 and rides his own bike, all my 4 boys and I ride to a bike party together. We sit down in the beer tent for a drink and have a good time. Then, as I do, I state the fact to some young upstart who does not like it and gets peed off with this old grey bearded fart. I then say to my boys: "Boys, can you get rid of this guy as he is annoying me". These four 6f2 guys get up and say: "Please leave as our dad does not appreciate your company..."

Then I buy them another beer!

May the bridges I burn light the way.

On my biking to do list:

South Island Tour with my wife on seperate bikes (probably about 4 years away when our youngest will be 4 1/2)

8 week Australia Tour on a Gold Wing (or other arm chair type bike) probably 20 years away when the kids are grown.

.... back in green and feeling great ....

Yes that is a great feeling, my 5 boys, ( 2 step sons) were all in the 15 -22 age group when we attended a party where a person decided to do somethng similar to what you suggest. It was the smallest son that took the challenge to the bully, lol, but it was not a "leave my dad alone" it was more "now pick up you sorry ass and go home" as the bully had to gather his sorry ass off the ground. Was a fun night indeed

All I'm really hoping for is to get a 170+BHP sports bike and living to tell the tale in a few years from now.

I've managed to survive six months on a 107hp bike...does that count?

Yeah mate ... at our age ... I think my first large bike pulled around 45 horses and got to 100mph only on the Longburn Straight ... after a while ... surviving on any bike with more that 100 horses is pretty good going ...

In the future you won't be able to drink beer.
    Or ride dangerous motorbikes.

I reckon I could use a few more now...

Althooooough: Given the following, maybe not...

    Things I learned today Pt3:

If you're gonna red line it in 2nd, make sure you know that the corner at the end of the straight is a right handed hairpin-like affair and be sure you have more than 100 metres clear when you decide it's time to stick the brakes on...

I'd like my son (coming up 18) will one day get in to get into biking so we could just ride somewhere together, have a coffee and a chat.

I'd also like to be able to take my wife around town on the pillion, I don't think she'd be up for going pillion the open road or learning to ride her own bike, but I'd like to be able to ride together over to the beach or pick her up from work and bumble off home together on the bike.

    That's survival ... even if a little painful ...

    the future

New to riding so immediate sights set on getting the hang of this thing that I have fallen in love with.

Long term want to ride further than NZ and see the rest of the world from a bike
