Carbon Fibre, Stainless Steel or Titanium..... is there a difference for a can? Is there a difference to sound, performance etc..? There is definitely a huge price difference between the Stainless Steel and the other two.
Opinions?

Carbon is light & sound deep from been thin walled Fibre but they fall apart after a short time , The other 2 will last longer as from what they are made of . Depends on brands some will have better sound than others . Power wise you'll have to get some Dyno figures to see what makes the best over all right though out the rev range

nothing much wrong with carbon, my current exhuast and previous are carbon and i have had over 20000km of no dramas with them. but i must admit i have been told not to put carbon cans on a big twins, they have a tendancy to fall apart.
yeah... sorry bro, i thought that ment miles 'n hour.
so the major difference between them is weight? I am assuming the Titanium would be the lightest? Anybody have any thoughts on Titanium or Stainless Steel?
I think I'm going to custom build some cans for le Voxan so that puts titanium out of the running. BuggerOriginally Posted by FEINT

Reality is an illusion encouraged by consensus.
Avoid carbon cans if you have any panniers within close proximity of the can, so I'm told. I've a matey that fitted a couple of carbon pipes under his panniers, replacing the stock ones, they melted the bottom of both his panniers while he was out on a ride.

They all look nice but the condition of the carbon fibre one will deteriorate the quickest over time. Titanium is the lightest & generally the most expensive - best choice for racing!Originally Posted by FEINT
I went stainless Scorpion on my CBR6 last year, mainly because of availability in NZ at the time, and they polish up nicely!
If I had the dollars & was prepared to wait 12+ weeks I'd go Yoshimura RS-3 Stainless...the whole exhaust system btw, not just the cannister.![]()

That would be because the black surface radiates heat more efficiently than the silvery metal alternativesOriginally Posted by Biff

I am looking at Yoshimura RS-5 in Titanium OR Akrapovic. Slip on though. Getting them from the US is cheaper than NZ. I want something loud!!!!!!!Originally Posted by Zed
That RS-3 does look nice.
I don't think I will go for a carbon fibre, seeing they don't last that long. The funny thing is, on some of the US websites, the Titanium is CHEAPER than the Carbon Fibre.![]()
