I notice so many of you racers write race reports. Why is that? Is it mandatory, is it part of your sponsorship deals, is it just one of the things that racers do?
Been wondering for a while now so I thought I'd ask.

.... back in green and feeling great ....
It's a bit like the 'forum' section in the girlie magazines.
You write in about your 'experiences' and maybe embellish them just a wee bit .......
5 inches becomes 10, 10th place becomes 4th, that type of thing.![]()
I wrote race reports last year for many reasons. One of them being that I was a new rider (and female) and wanted to encourage people to get into it but also share with them the harder side of racing. Also I like to be able to thank those that have helped me out, especially the club that ran the event. People with sponsor's probably want to acknowledge them too! It is very easy to take for granted what is provided for us racers to be able to get out there and do what we love.
I enjoy reading peoples race reports, there is so much going on with different people and its not all about the results!
It's for the attention!!

I like to read the race reports, interesting to get into the mentality and enjoy the experience with them.
Not all can race so it's nice to read of other's experiences.
It a sharing caring world.
Next time ya watch some bike racing, no matter how easy some folks (bastards!) make it look just picture ducks on a pond: there's lotsa action that ya just can't see. Sometimes the battle is breaking your own riding barriers, sometimes just being there is a major achievement. For those people interested a race report gives a lil' insight into the event that the numbers on a lap/result sheet just can't capture.
Sponsors. I don't have my own website so can post sponsors the link and they can have a read and see their logos at the bottom etc.
Oh and the attention !!

I used to. It worked really well, people could follow your racing and help me out when I started racing and raise my profile.
I get shit when I put them up now so I just send a report to sponsors
Plus sometimes you have no idea what happened to your competitor. Reading their report give you a better understanding of how the race went down.
and gives you a chance to share your excuses!![]()
Then there are some of us who are too long in the tooth to race anymore, and can't attend many race meetings as spectators. But we still like to read about the race, and what better way than from the rider's point of view.
Keep those reports coming.![]()
Time to ride
of course its for the attention.. actually.. I never thought about it apart from when I was road riding I would write a report on the ride to give people something else to read apart from hondas are ghay and why didnt that biker wave to me threads. When I started racing it was a natural progession to write a report.
