Help! Late model 2007 RMZ450. Help!

    Hi Guys/Girls,

My mate has a late model 2007 Suzuki RMZ450 and we can't find anywhere on the bike to check the oil level.... we also have a 2005 RMZ450 and it has a bolt you remove to check the oil level but this one doesn't....

The 2005 - 2007 (owners manual) says they take 1450mls of oil (and is written on the side of the 2005 we have) and this bike takes 1300mls (as written on the motor) so then is it running a 2008 motor ?

The work shop manual we have covers 2005,2006,2007 however this doesn't cover this motor, i have herd a rumor that its a late model is 2007 so maybe its really a 2008 motor ?

    Any help greatly appreciated...

    Cheers
    Caleb

    I had an 07 450.
It did have an oil level check bolt. 5mm allen key right side of engine down lower that the oil filter cover. for memory it was 1300mm of oil if you didn't change the filter and 1360ish with a filter change.
Sump plugs are in the normal spot but there's 2 of them one 10mm head and one 12mm.
    Hope that helps.
Failing that get a 2 stroke.

Some of the motors broke the casings by the crank/kickstart. That may be why it has a different casing or motor?
Just tricky to start if you don't hold your tounge right.

the 08's are 5 speed, its the easiest way to check, and they came out very late that year due to the crankcase recall as said above,

all RMZ450's from when they came out in 2005, to the current 2011 model have the oil check bolt on the clutch cover, however some of the aftermarket clutch covers you can get do not have them in them,

Cheers EXCDirt ! There is a Allen Key like under the oil filter... (Not on the casing) this bolt is lower down then the oil level bolt on the 2005 one.....

So i take it you can only check it then when its cold and all the oil is in the bottom ? ( My yammy i have to check when its warm because the dip stick is by my radiator, in the frame )

and different casing sounds about right too !

Thanks heaps for your helpful info dude !

also the 2008 was the first fuel injected one, if it has a carb it is a 2007

about 670 i think the CR asks for, but clutch is smoother with 800.

the RMZ shares trans and engine oil though doesnt it?

I'd fill mine to the bolt hole with it on its stand (Left side lean)
Probably over filled a wee bit, but that's good.
I had the full manual so I read the whole thing cover to cover.
Pretty much changed the oil after every ride.
Took it apart just for fun or for cleaning.

I'm not so anal with my new bike. clean and check every ride and do oil/air filter every 2-3 rides depending on load and distance.
Swap between 3 chains every 4 rides so makes sprockets last better... maybe?
