Taupo/Whakatane - Places to ride?

Hi Guys/Girls,

We are loading up and heading to Taupo for Labour Weekend.... anyone know of any places to ride in Taupo ??

or in Whakatane ... ?

Check out the "Place to ride Hawkes Bay" thread and I put some info about Rangitaiki. Pretty cool riding out there.

There's also Pureroa Forest Park which is out from Kinloch - rather easy to get lost out there too haha.

Got this from an old thread and haven't tried it myself so cannot say how true but it's a possibility

SF70 presents off road enthusiasts with thousands of hectares of riding in a unique other worldly, almost desert like, landscape with everything from straight fast, well packed tracks to technical tight sections. Most of the tracks have been made by and kept open by 4wd enthusiasts so expect to see a few around .
