What sad news. All the best for a speedy recovery. This site may well descend into chaos without your guiding hand. How fortunate to have that doctor along on the ride! Good on you guys who were first on the scene for keeping your cool and doing what needed to be done. Look forward to reading the good news of your recovery on here.

Hitcher as managed the transition from ventilated to breathing by himself, and has roused sufficiently from time to time to acknowledge people and grin at questions he doesn't know the answer to.

He will be transferred to a ward later today.

Give him a newspaper and a pen.

When he starts correcting speeling mistakes then he's recovered.

Hitcher is one of those invincible types that you really think nothing will ever happen too. Although we never really communicated it is still quite a shock to read about what happened.

I sincerely wish you all the best and hope you have a speedy recovery.

Thoughts go to you, your family and to your friends who must worried sick right now.

Not the kind of news you like to hear about friends. Brett and Jane, take care and we'll be here if you need anything.

Good to hear from Mrs H before. Brett's not up to visitors yet but I'm sure he'll be in our thoughts and we'll be ready with the grapes (and sly grog...) when he's up to it.

Unfortunately it doesnt mean that. It can (for instance) mean that some things are really hard to do in a chopper - like stopping to stabilise him...

Well done for stopping and doing what you could man... Bloody good effort, musta been a hell of a shock for everyone.

    He has deputies...
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?
