Hitcher as managed the transition from ventilated to breathing by himself, and has roused sufficiently from time to time to acknowledge people and grin at questions he doesn't know the answer to.

Hitcher is one of those invincible types that you really think nothing will ever happen too. Although we never really communicated it is still quite a shock to read about what happened.

Unfortunately it doesnt mean that.It can (for instance) mean that some things are really hard to do in a chopper - like stopping to stabilise him...
