" Life is not a rehearsal, it's as happy or miserable as you want to make it"
Haha yeah fair call, but after I've read countless "cop pri*k gave me a fine because I broke the law" threads on here whinge is the first word that springs to mind.
If a certain race/religion/gender represented a higher risk I personally think it'd be a great idea to "target" (for lack of a better word) them to help mitigate as many factors as possible to avoid the carnage we see everyday. But try convincing the Paul Henry haters the logic in that...funny how my insurance company used to do a great job "targeting" me when I was an under 25 male with a V8.
Good job sounds like you covered your arse.
I have an HT. I am far from a professional at driving trucks. So do a fair majority of farmers out there and we are still expected to stop.
Certainly not saying bike's should be stopped on every street corner at random. Unfortunately if 35% of us chose on this day to not follow the rules I'm guessing right or wrong we can expect more of this in the future.
[QUOTE=buellbabe;1129886372]I disagree unfortunately. I have ridden the loop a few times over the years and bad experiences have put me off riding it..... for a while at least untill I remember why I went and rode it in the first place. Sure the "coro - gp " does attract its share of muppets but also attracts a far larger share of non-muppets who are just there to ride some of the best roads for motorcyles thats not to far from home. And police should not be making people feel like they shouldnt enjoy a part of new zealand just because of the vehicle they are on....
This is discrimination at it's most basic level. Out of a group of varying vehicles in a certain location we will be singling out one group and trying to ticket them.... yes I know they said bullshit about safety but I am firmly of the opinion that thier method of "teaching" us this safety involves ticketing of some variety...
They don't go around arresting people because they wear beige so why pull me over and waste my time and lecture me because I ride a motorcyle??
Now if they were looking at all vehicles, at say a check point, and not particularly singling one type out I have no problem with that as they are likely to find as many "non-compliant" trailers and cars etc etc as motorcycles.
Lump lingered last in line for brains,
And the ones she got were sort of rotten and insane...
Got this Poll running on KIWIRIDER:
I voted 'undecided' as unlike a lot of others on KB I wasn't actually there..![]()

" Life is not a rehearsal, it's as happy or miserable as you want to make it"
OK, just the fax Joe Friday. on the site the preamble goes like this:
Recent Police Checkpoints on the Coromandel targeting motorcycles have been both praised and condemned online.
What's your call? Worthwhile initiative or big brother closing in?
Plus I linked the press releases:

Or are you not allowed an opinion huh, huh, :-P
I do have two targets while on my Restricted.
One is to do the Tauranga/Coro Loop/Tauranga ride. The other is to do 1000 km in a day (well, within the 5.00 am to 10.00 pm limit of my license).
And I wouldn't mind if I was pulled over by the Police and they checked both my bike and my license. I would be pissed at the hoons on two wheels, both living and departed, who have brought about the need for the Police to take this action.
Legal rights - I'm right all the time.
Was waiting for this t'happen.
Inevitable that all the online cries of "well I ain't gonna register my bike now that rego's gone up!" would receive attention & force them into being creative.
Oh well, plenty of other places to go for a scoot.
