Finally made it to Deus Ex Machina Auckland and did take some pics.

Me and Mrs merv had a long weekend in Auckland which on Sunday coincided with us having been together 35 years. What better thing to do that day than have afternoon tea at the Shed 5 Cafe at Deus Ex Machina, and once I'd downed my milkshake and red velvet cake I worked my way around taking photos.

The Webb's auction bikes were mainly still there, many with "Sold" signs on them. You guys on here made me paranoid about being told not to take photos at DEM so I left the flash off so as not to attract too much attention, and in the end no hassles from the establishment, but my pics are a bit grainy because of it.

Enjoy the pics. I'll post them up as I have time but here's a few to start.

I was also in Auckland for the weekend (my Partner's birthday) and took her there for lunch on Saturday. What a fantastic place to find. I encourage you all to check it out sometime.

Stephen, yes it is a very tidy place.

Motu presume you've been in there to drool at these bikes?

    I'll post more pics later.

That's a cool looking shop. Love the clean workshop - I wish my garage was half as tidy (guess that's my fault!).

Now - do tell me that was not your pink cupcake .......

I laughed when I saw that too. I hope they don't con some poor sap into paying that for it...you could build exactly the same bike for around $1500.00

You can see a number of the auction bikes have "Sold" signs on them, but what price they fetched compared to the indicative prices I wouldn't have a clue. Perhaps someone that was there at the auction could fill us in on that.

Yeah there were some cool looking old bikes in that auction and you can see the staff at the counter weren't bothered by me taking photos else they may have chased me away. Good advertising for their shop I'd say, after you've seen these pics I suggest you get along and have a squizz yourselves.

Hopefully someone does know where the auction bikes came from as that wasn't mentioned on the auction site from what I could see. A great collection that's for sure.

just a guess but it looks like the ones that are sold , are the ones that " I had a old bsa when i was young " couldn't afford when they were young , and now the kids have gone,,, are willing to pay ...

Didn't see any prices but the cb400 was over the top , so how far over is the square four ?

Still a good business model , run the cafe , that pays for the bills and if we sell a bsa for 1/2 a million thats all gold babay !!!

    Stephen ....
