I got pulled for excessive speed on the last long weekend when they had that 105kph speed thingy in effect..... i was clocked at 206kph in the wairarapa ... and i was slowing down at the time . I thought oh shit do i do a runner or stop!!! I stopped cos i didnt know the roads or escape routes well enough to do a runner.... Kinda glad I did stop too..... had a good yarn with the young cop (only 28-30 y/o) about my bike and how cool it sounded and then he told me all about his hotted V-Max and how cool that sounded ..... then he showed me the speed i was doing on his radar thingy in his car and told me to try n take it a bit easy as there was the 105kph thing in effect this weekend.... And then told me to feed it some while he listened while i took off . This cop is the best cop ever as my bike was not reg'ed either as i was in protest of the hike in acc fees .... I never got any ticket for speed or reg and had his permission to fang the shit outa my bike when i took off ...... Should be more cops like this ..... and as a result of his kindness I have limited my speeding to the back roads lol, but still not reg'ed the bike ..... fuck nick smith and his acc levies..... i can get 2 tickets a year for no reg and still come out better off...

Think I'm about to loose mine for demerits.

How can I check how many points I have left?

I've received a couple of letters informing me of my current score, and letting me know that points are running low. I get my live updates during my roadside "chats"

mate of mine had a crash and i think the hour in the rescue chopper and week in hospital and acc topping his income up for the 6 to 8 weeks he will be off work cost slightly more than the acc component in his rego

Irony is that the same friendly Constable that gave me my last ticket costing 35 points (ridding 1000cc on restricted, no speeding involved just "friendly safety" check) was also the same friendly constable who served me my suspension 5 months later and took away my now full licence i got two weeks after the original ticket... anyway i should be back on the road for rest of the summer i hope...

(previous loss of points were, year ago "no L plate" on learners, and riding 400cc on learners)...actualy none of my points that cost me licence were speeding, another irony considering how much i speed everywhere...
    slow learner much??

Just pop in to the local station and ask the desk to do a check for you, show your I.D - if they are not busy I am sure they will oblige.

Ring NZTA Driver Licensing Centre. 0800 822 422. Identify yourself and they will tell you your current balance.
