    KTM300E start brushes

    Hey all

Have just pulled my electric start on my 07' 300 to pieces and confirmed what i thought; the brushes are stuffed. Well one is ok one is completely gone.

    Anyone replaced these before?
I found on the net that CRF450x brushes fit as KTm dont sell them seperately.

    cheers

    nice set up actually
On a Motorcycle you're penetrating distance, right along with the machine!! In a car you're just a spectator, the windshields like a TV!!

'Life's Journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out! Shouting, ' Holy sh!t... What a Ride!! '

sweet, cheers all! Parts are on their way

andy, when i replace the brushes, do the magnet ends need to be placed anywhere in particular or do they sort of 'float around'??

    cheers

When you drop the armature back in you need to hold the brushes back with some tooth picks or similar and get someone to help it is frustrating as the armature goes out of center as you drop it in and sticks to the magnets.

Right, brushes arrived but not 100% sure their right

One looks like the one existing one in my starter, the other instead of having a circular mount hole at the end of the wire, is 'tacked' on to a larger diameter square head bolt

    whats going on??

Secondly, where the power attaches to the starter, should there be a blob of wire on the inside opposite where the power attaches?

    cheers

The bolt with the brush on it is the one that your power wire from the battery is connected to, you have to unsrew the bolt on the starter and replace with the new one, the blob you are talking about was connected to the brush witch has brocken off.
