Was the Yamaha R6S released in NZ?

I've been looking at a R6 as my first serious bike when I came across a review of the R6S which sounds a more sensible option but can't find any examples of them on trademe

Were the released in NZ under a different name or are they just rare/crap?

They're the previous model released as the R6S or something like that.

Wasn't released in NZ as the R6S but we have the same model. From what I've seen the US market R6S is just an 03-04 model produced in later years. The '05 of the same model has USD forks and I think minor engine changes for what is probably an unnoticeable change in riding experience except for the suspension.

In essence the R6S is no different to buying an 03-04 R6 except that it was built later. All parts should be the same. It was only made available as an alternative 'new' 600cc sportsbike that wasn't as track orientated as the 06+ R6's.

R6 Kid has got it spot on....much more user friendly road bike than 06 onwards model which develops its power in a narrower band, higher in the rev range.
gruntier motor than the 02 m0del down, & can seriously haul ass. Biggest drawback is ending up riding on your own a lot as you leave youre nanna mates behind
loved mine ( an 04) & it got me into racing...Dave-, on here has it now & he did mention he might think about selling it again so as to go RACING too
Very user friendly bike, not at all intimidating & will pootle about all day in town happily,'till you twist your wrist & things become a blur

    this actually happens...

to answer the OP question directly, the R6S was not sold new in NZ, instead we carried on the standard models (06, 07, 08, etc)

but the 03-04 R6 is identical (more or less) to the R6S so any reviews you read on the R6S will be applicable to the R6 we have in NZ
