    First trials bike

    hi

I'm looking to get a trials bike and would appreciate some advice on what to buy. I've ridden motocross and never owned or ridden a trials bike but always fancied giving a trials bike a go. What CC, what brands, and what criteria do I look for? No budget set for the bike, I'm not looking to compete, just some fun and challenge...

    Thanks

Back in the day the criteria was the best maintained & least bent. I should say this still applies.

A trials bike used for competition will be more beat up,but better maintained than a bike used for casual riding...which will have less spills, but not kept up to competitive condition.

I suggest you do the same - compete in trials rather than just play around by yourself. You will never push yourself to do things you never thought you were capable of doing....actually having to complete a section you thought was impossible gives satisfaction to make up for all the pain.Learning off other more experienced riders is part of the whole thing too.

There is a few brands out there, the Betas are a good bike. Good for shits and giggles. They are really weird to ride, the pegs are really far back and it a strange feeling position when you are used to MX type bikes. great for control skills though.

Whatever trials bike you buy - you will then start learning how to ride a motorcycle. And, the more you ride it, the more you will learn.

When you go back to racing competition, you will know what I mean.
It's OK to disagree with me. I can't force you to be right.

Lovely thought, good sport for a geriatric like me but events are few & far between up here, so are the bikes. One day I will get one.

I got a Gas Gas Pro.
My Beta was a bit better made i think.

If you can get a old techno, they are a good learning bike, a 125 would be my pick.
Smaller CC is a bit easier to ride
