Paekakariki Hill Road - Caught on Camera

Hi all, here's my first attempt at filming on the bike. I went out for a quick ride over the Paekak Hill this afternoon and rigged up the video camera in the tank bag. The positioning isn't great but it's good enough until I get around to making a decent mount.

The vid didn't buffer first so I got this mainline hiccup with lots of good sound that dropped off like it went over a cliff, and a series of stills. I noticed that for all of those changes in engine pitch the needle on the speedo just sat between 60 and 80 kph. Much nicer the 2nd time through. Good effort.

I was quite conscious of the camera bouncing around in the tank bag but more so I feel like shit at the moment (I got the flu). The road was a bit on the damp side as well and I just really wasn't in the zone.
And I never go above 100Kph anyway...

Damn, what a sweet road...is that the one when you approach Wellington from the East? I came down through Hawkes Bay in a shit heap car with the gf one time...and there was a mad twisty road around that way.

That's probably the Rimutakas which connects the Wairarapa Valley with Upper Hutt/Wellington.

This road connects SH1 & SH2 from Paekakariki on SH1 to Lower Hutt on SH2.

Well the dash looks familiar, but sure sounds weird, they sound much different once you hit 8K on the rev counter, aye. What muffler you got, Arrow isnt it?

    Thank you.

I wasn't able to ride today, so it was great to get my fix.

Next time, can we please have less of the instruments and more of the road.

Funny, when I am riding I am aware of the revs, but don't notice the sounds like I do on the video.

    From this bike-aholic, thank you.

Yeah it's an arrow...it sounds quite different on the video than in real life.

That's the plan...I'm going to make up a couple of mount, one for the top of the tank and one that hangs off the side of the fairing. This was really just a test, I just wrapped the camera in a towel and put it in my tank bag so I wasn't able to see what kind of view I was getting until after the ride.

[stupidquestion] But then how did the camera see? Wasn't the poor little thing blinded? [/stupidquestion]

Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?
