    The Long Weekend Thread

Don't think this has been started yet so why not post a snippet of your labour weekend riding adventure if one was made. I got my R6 out on it's first wee tour around the Coromandel, up around the top and back to Auckland via most of the beach's over two days, very fun and a lot of other riders out, nice catching up with a few.

I was riding with my mate and his CBR thou, top part of the ride would have to be tipping from side to side through the tight bends over the hill between Whitianga & Coromandel town with no traffic, a lot of fun!

Nice pictures - sounds like you had a great long weekend! I had some good riding but only within Auckland. Forgot to take my camera though....

had a nice ride from whakatane to waihau bay on sunday with some of the most spectacular views i have ever seen and the roads were amazing with 100 odd ks of nice winding roads. Had an ice cream when i got there and then turned around and came home just so i could do it all over again.

Went down with a group of about 13 from Wellington to the Greymouth street race - via.... Blenheim, Motueka, Takaka Hill, Buller Gorge, Greymouth, Lewis Pass, Kaikoura, then Picton (please excuse the poor spelling of these places).

Amazing weekend, glorious roads, great company and a wide range of bikes. Simply buzzing...

I did my trip on Thursday/Friday - avoid the traffic!

    Tawa - Shannon - Opiki - Fielding - Kimbolton - Rangiwahia - Taihapi - Taupo - Rotorua.

Rotorua - Taupo - Napier - Manawatu Gorge - Levin - (Did Levin - Tawa on Saturday.)

Yes, lots and lots of cops on the road, even on Friday. Mostly good riding everywhere. State highways are mostly boring.

On Thursday night some bugger tried to steal my bike. On Friday morning found it moved, half-blocking the Motel room door, with the rear disk-lock hard against the swingarm. I figure they tried to quietly wheel it away and slinked off when they realised they'd not be able to. Luckily no damage/vandalism.

(P.S. Filled up with Gull at Hastings. Made my bike sing! Great stuff.)
Measure once, cut twice. Practice makes perfect.
