it is if someone pays that much for it.

I personally don't think it is worth that but it is a classic so is worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

personally I can't see why, i owned one back in the early 80s and while it was a lot of fun it was a bloody heavy pig and my mate's XR500 walked all over it.
Don't blame me, I voted Green.
Nothing surprising. Lots of suckers are willing to pay for the 'character' of the bike vs. outright features / comfort / power spec.
Have to agree , I bought one new in '79 when I was in my late teens loved it and enjoyed the sound and the torquey motor then but , it was a very heavy bike , and underpowered compared to my mates who had two strokes, any 250 would run rings around it., let alone the open class bikes. Paid around $2900 from memory in Auck and that was off the showroom floor. The XR500 was always a better Bike. Still , It was a great wheelie machine the TT500 , the XR500 was just as good and it had a tad more power ...both Bikes were very heavy at around 140kg and only around 30-35Hp crank .
$14K ? Too much but good luck to him
That's probably what a zero hour bike MIGHT be worth . At a stretch ..........

I'm sure the resident authority on bike value, Crazy Steve, will be along shortly to tell us exactly what it IS worth...
