The next day we planed to get down to the Eyre Peninsular
    First to cross the border..

Then have a look at some Harleys, it's not only Beemers that travel on trailers

You know it's a cruiser when it's got a cupholder

Anyway...There's not much of interest here, lots of straight roads and gumtrees with hectares and hectares of wheat.
We ended up at Smokey bay for the night

If I find any interesting pics later I'll post them up.

    Keep it coming.

You are making me feel claustrophobic.

Did you weave around on the long straight road?
I mentioned vegetables once, but I think I got away with it...........

    Awesome pics & writeup Jatz.
You guys really suit a big beemer. But maybe the reliability issues could put you off.
Perks up my interest again of doing a bit of a tour over there.
I've got on my bucket list a desire to ride one of those long straight mind numbing roads for some sadistic reason

BTW I did a job over in Mot yesterday - don't worry, it hasn't changed

Call it a road test of the Big Beemer, I'm still not convinced though, I prefered the 8 hundy.
The long straight roads aren't really boring because they're so different. Do get a sore butt though

So long as the kids are safe and it keeps ratbags like y'self from settling there.

Just a quick post this time.... we got lost leaving Adelaide in the rain and stopped at a little town called Hahndorf. Quite an old quaint German town.
We had to have smoko while here and use the FREE wifi

    Memories

    Jatz,
you and the missus left my place and saw the south of the state at the right time. A fire swept through the Margaret River area and destroyed 39 homes and thousands of acres of bush. But it's all O.K. because even though the high temperatures and the high winds were predicted the D.E.C. (Department of Environment and Conservation) went ahead with their CONTROLLED BURN anyway.
Sorry to read that you had bike trouble and hit some wet weather but once you get home to NZ it will all be part of the adventure and I hope you look back fondly on your Aussie trip. At least you would have been happy in the knowledge that your crazy mates were looking after your place while you were over here.

Jatz sitting on my lowered 750. A roo dog on a cue ball. It's been dropped about 70mm at seat height as has the 800 you can just see the beak of.

Jatz and the Boss getting ready to move on. You're a lucky man, mate.

Sorry about the attached thumbnails below. I had a bit of trouble inserting the photo's.

    Cheers.

No, it's lowered because when I step off the curb my arse hits the footpath. Both bikes had specially made links, 15mm longer lowereing them 70mm so that when I sit on them my feet reach the ground comfortably.
    Cheers.

    Back....
I;ll whistle through the next few days instead of a day by day thing just incase anyones getting bored.
We left Smokey bay and sort of started going down the Eyre Peninsular

, we went past some rocks that needed a closer look

We decided to give the rest of the peninsular a miss as it would just be another xtra long day and the forcast was for more wind, I'd been knocked around by a crosswind most of the previous day. We took a short cut and ended up here, at a little place called Kimba

Carried on a bit and came to a town called " IronKnob" and with a name like that it would be rude to ride past A very harsh environment to live in.
    One of the locals

There is an Iron mine there and very little else, it was one of the most depressing towns I've ever been into
But they had this beauty on display

Anyway, onward to Port Augusta to get some supplies and we headed for Mt Remarkable national park

A very nice spot it is too

We left Mt Remarkable N.P. under increasingly grey skies and made our way towards Adelaide via Gladstone and Clare valley.Quite nice doing absolutely no research about the area your going through, makes ita nice surprise.Who knew it was a wine growing region ? of course we had to stop for a tasting and to support the local industry.
There's no interesting pics of the palce, it was just very scenic, even in the rain and drizzle
Anyhoooo we got to Adelaide without anythig interesting happening, where I had some new pads put on the rear of the bike (from Pitmans yamaha, installed free of charge ) and MrsJ needed some new gloves as she'd lost one of hers while reading the map.
Adelaide was alright....lots of old houses

The next day we bailed towards Mt Gambier. We went through Hahndorf and then found some really nice scenic twistie stuff between there and Strathalbyn, I couldn't stop grinning using 2nd and 3rd gear for a change, then headed for Wellington and the ferry

After that we grabbed another short cut

and rode through Keith and Struan and made camp at Bool Lagoon in a cons. area just south of Naracoorte

The birdlife was prolific aswell as the rabbits. We also spotted a fox
