There is quite a strongly held urban myth that the po po has to have their hat on when issuing tickets, because all their superpowers reside in the hat. But not so.

if in doubt ask for the warrant card!

or nick their car keys and drive the squad car back to the station and say "Oi: is this one of yours?"

"I wasn't fleeing your worship, I just had the stereo on loud and didnt hear the si-reens, and I'm Italian, so "Whatsa behind me, she is not important". No, I didnt notice the 27 cop cars, helicopters, and road spikes, what am I, psychic?" If they wanted me to stop they should have tried a bit harder to pull me over, your Worship"

    (Shhh.. Surprised who posted.. )

Would suspect that what many consider doing a runner, may be passing a cop at high speed, but before giving the cop a chance to give chase, takes off and gets outta there, hiding somewhere down the ways.

What about where you are actively being chased?

Most proper pursuits still get abandoned.

I took Patrick's comment on that, though. Sure, many do get called off but for him, he got his man later, I wonder how many get clean away and not caught at all.
