What we don't know is, how many of the police prosecuted are those that don't believe that a little bit of speeding, in the right place and the right time, harms anyone, thereby getting nicked themselves. Probably the same ones who also let us off with a warning or a flash of the lights.

Completely agree, if the lights ain't on then they haven't "taken all practicable steps" to mitigate the risks of their speeding.I reckon they should only waived the tickets If the red & blue lights are flashing...otherwise Hang em...Hang em high!

OF course i dont have the numbers...but my suspicion is its not 60%of all tickets like in this case.
(i admit the article is stupid and sensationalist at best...if the writer did proper research we would have known if those waived tickets are due to being "in action" or just waived because "strings were pulled"...but we dont know so no point arguing about it)
those other 1200 tickets dont bother me as much because the "offenders" likely had to pay them just like i do... unless there is some kind of discount you guys get
