Help! Disc lock stuck!

Hi Guys,
Had my new 250 for just 4 days! My First BIKE DAMMIT!
Brought an Oxford Screamer Disc Lock, been using it fine no problems getting it off and on.
Went out this morning to unlock it and it won't come off.
The silver part where you put the key has popped up and alarm is disabled, but the bolt is not moving.
Tried every way of turning the blasted key but its a no go.
I dont think the bolt is hindered as theres movement sideways just seems that it wont retract.
The key pushes down, turns without problem and the alarm beeps once (to let you know if you push the black button on the front the alarm will arm).
But the lock (where you put the key) wont stay down in the locked position and just pops back up.
Turning either direction seems to have no effect.

Any advise? How do I get this off?
Who can I call to cut it off if need be? Will the insurance cover the costs if I need to call someone out to cut it?

I live in Te Atatu South, if anyone could pop over tonight or any night after 6pm to help out I'd be really really grateful (maybe Im just being a noob and theres some magical expert biker technique!) Please call/txt me on 0212455802 if you can help...

If you bought it via a shop have you contacted them?
I am thinking that they, as Oxford's agents, have some responsibility in assisting in rectifying this failure and might be interested in seeing the device before someone else wrecks it.
Also have you 'googled' for advice in case this is a known problem?

you could get friend to help jack the bike up and take the wheel off then take to the shop you would probably want to remove wheel before you attempt the try and cut off any way

Call the shop to come pick it up. 4 day's old. I think I can honestly say that it is still well within the warranty period. Any damage caused by someone else could possibly invalidate warranty.

Yup ring the store you bought it from and ask to speak to the manager. Be polite but get your point across, if they have any morals they will send someone out to inspect it and sort a repair and replacement for you.

Have you tried dousing in CRC? Man I feel your frustration! I can't really add solid value sorry but maybe the CRC douse will twig the bolt into action. I'd suggest a douse and turn the key to lock/unlock several times and when in the unlock position, tap the side of the lock chassis to see if it jimmies the bolt. It was a cold night last night, wonder if that has anything to do with it?

Bear in mind peeps we are in Auck, so a cold night for us is positively tropical for some of you lot further south

So by no means are we talking extreme operation conditions for the Oxford lock.

Try leaving it alone for a couple of hours. Not specific to disc locks, but I've come across at least two occassions where someone's car won't unlock, cries for help, someone else tries again after a couple of hours and worked fine then gives the owner an idiot look.

I 2nd the CRC / WD40 suggestion. Hose it with the stuff. I've found my oxford locks play up due to being rained on and need a WD40 squirt every couple of months. In my case - the metal lock won't pop up. Sounds like the lock as come away from the bolt.

If the above doesn't work - also agree with getting the shop you bought it from to sort it. Anything you do to force it will be at your risk and expense.

JUST DON'T GET THE CRC / WD40 ON THE DISK. Brakes don't tend to like the stuff. Something to do with the 'Oh! Shit!' moment that can follow.

common misconception. Usability by the authorised party is as important to good security as is protection from unauthorised use. Therefore this lock is a FAIL.

Looks like you will have to get a angle grinder onto it with a cut-off wheel, takes about 15sec.You are better off with a normal disc lock, they take about 30sec to grind through.
