I'm with you Brent, GPS's ARE for woofta's, you won't ever see one of them on my bike, have to ask yourself how much of an adventure is it when you know exactly where you are at all times???

Abuse? I have a different approach for lippy buggers like you, take a look out your office window at your car in the car park, notice the deflated left rear tyre?

    That was me

We are riding from north of Auckland on Monday, Molesworth and Lees Valley. I heard that some may ride from CHCH on Friday through the gorge and wondered if we might join you for that (details ??). We'll probably tent at Fairlie and Alex for accom.

Done Molesworth several times but never Lees Valley. Any tips on Lees would be most welcome.

Is it too late to sign on for the BBQ on Friday at Fairlie? (x2).
hiya John there is room here for you & ya mate if you want (mattress on floor in lounge) we live at the Hydro village Roxburgh & as its on the route me & three others are heading here for Sat night

The farmer told me that guys on DRZ400's couldn't do it a couple of years back so was supprised when I told him the 950 got through. I'll be keen to hear stories on Saturday night around the "camp fire".

Well then I must have no fun. I don't need a GPS to know where I am at all times - then again I am a little strange I just use it to create routes for you fellas.

Lightbulb Fire Extinguishers - What happens if we don,t have em???

To the person who asked What If they don't carry a fire extinguiser on the DB1000...

On Dec 21st 2010 a fire was started in grass in the Waimate Gorge ( most of the southerners know that location ) by sparks from wires touching in high winds

10 days, 8 helicopters, lots of men and 180 hectares later it was put out

Bill to fight fire so far, $500,000 and counting

I suggest you carry a fire extinguisher

    Livestock reminder

Was down south with work this week & was reminded that many parts of the DB route are un-fenced roads.
Weaning is underway so go very quietly through mobs of lambs. They are real skittery just off the ewes & ya don't want to cause a smother.
Also what looks like a rock could be a dozing sheep, startled merino's can run towards your vehicle & livestock like to camp on warm gravel, often just around a blind corner.
    And no - I didn't hit anything.
    Ride safe

Thanks for the kind offer. I'll chat with my mate tomorrow and confirm. Would save having to carry tents and all... and a chance to meet more good people! New to this threadblogging malarchy so I hope this works. Cheers, John.
