You may be able to take the jet boat if this forecast rain is heavy enough.

Well I'm in Motueka at the Jatz waiting for 950 brake parts to be shipped from Auckland after the Molesworth had it's way with me yesterday.

It was 36 degrees out there yesterday.

Weather update from Tekapo, 100% cloud cover today with a few spots of rain possibly heavy on the alps. Lake levels returing to normal but still spilling form Tekapo at a reduced rate. We have had some high winds in the past few days including Sat night/sun morning but generally hot fine weather.

Off down to the Iron bridge across the Tekapo river today to check the road leading to the bridge for Ryan so fingers crossed it will be all good. New rear sprocket and chain block ordered but not too confident they will arrive in time but fingers crossed.

Was great to see last weekend 20-30 off road bikes in the village from the Yamaha SI Safari....got my juices flowing for the dusty but also reminded me to buy Ryan a beer for organising this ride as they paid $1195 for the pleasure......Cheers Ryan, will call later today.

Not sure what forecast you are using, but metvuw is predicting 3mm/hr later this afternoon in the upper McKenzie basin with the whole os the south island getting a bit of a dosing between now and tomorrow morning

I was at Haldon over new years and tried to get to the bridge for a looksee, They were spilling soo much water the road was flooded and was flowing through camp.......less spill should mean its all good.

Just back from the Iron Bridge, steady rain falling all over the MacKenzie basin now and looks to be set in for the day. Track from the Haldon Arm camp to the Iron Bridge is damp with several large puddles (1.5ft) at most, so should be fine. Evidence of wide scale flooding along fence line in places and strams running beside the track are high!

Fingers crossed this rain stops soon in the catchments or there may be issues if they spill more water from Lake Tekapo.

Was thinking I'd stick me bike on the right wheel space and walk it across the bridge if it's wet on the day.

I remember some of those puddles along the fence looked like they might get quite deep where there is another higher track next to them. Was all dry when I saw it.

That's not how the game is played Transalper, it is adventure riding, not adventuring pushing

    Says the new crash master.

I'll take the adventure pushing over the potential adventure swimming on this occasion, but if it's a dry bridge then I'll go riding as it's been done before.

    one dayers

Hi There One Dayers....just curious whos doing what.....

you dont have to tell if your going for max bragging rights.

    Route length options -
1.The maximum route length is about 1120km if you ride the options to maximise the route length. This is doing Danseys Pass (not doing Challenge 1), Challenge 2 and the Scenic Loop.
2.The shortest route is about 1057km though this involves doing Challenge 1 (will be time consuming), not doing Challenge 2 and not doing the Scenic Loop.
3.For those who want to do technical stuff the mid length option of doing Challenges 1 and 2 and the Scenic Loop with will total of about 1070km.
4.For those that are less comfortable on technical terrain do Danseys Pass, not do Challenge 2 and do the Scenic Loop with a total of about 1110km.

    Not long now.....
