    Cool blog Roger....
Your tips on taking kids with you are spot on mate...
Last Sunday, my 14 yr old daughter arrived here from Christchurch to live with us for about three months.
I want to get her onto the bike as a pillion and have I been thinking a few things through, like time on the bike, gear etc.
She has never been on a bike before and that in itself is my first challenge.

Thanks Mark, I have to admit I was pretty nervous about the whole thing. But I am very glad I did it.

Well, don't force it, she has to want to (otherwise she may end up hating it).
Make it relaxed and easy to begin with, short trips first. If she finds the fun, slightly longer trips can be done. I've found new pillions find it very different town vs country riding. Usually also helps if the destination is a place she enjoys as well.
Definitely try to not scare her, if she sees the fun in it, thats usually all it takes.
Outing with the two of you may also make it enjoyable (if she likes the company of both of you at once?)

Mint! Te Awamutu is always a nice town to stop by, I used to call it home. Good to see the young guy already into his bikes!

    Nice Blog Rog...
I enjoy the time me and "the boy" spend together on our bikes, be it doing a multi day adv ride or hooning around the forestry blocks near home.
Quality time even though were in our own space on the bikes.
But don't tell 'im that , he'll become obstreperous and won't be able to get his head in his helmet
