    Advice on purchase - FXR?

Went and had a bit of a look see at an FXR today for sale, had a few things which I'm not entirely sure about...
-slow carb leak from the overflow, which should probably be an easy fix, most likely just floats right?
-popping back/afterfires (don't know which) at high revs and downshifting
-weak electrics (heard this is common with FXRs?)
    -gearbox a little clunky

Auction closes today, in a hour or so, and at around $1900.
For a noob with bad experiences on a first bike, and not too much mechanical know-how: worth it or no?
I'd take it for a full service straight after purchase, for peace of mind, but would it be worth getting in the first place with those kinda problems?

Cheers in advance for any advice

When in doubt, throw em out. Sounds like a poorly maintained bike. Got a link to the auction?

There are plenty of FXRs on trademe at the moment for around $2,000*. Maybe you can find one with better condition.

Your call, but if I were you I'd avoid it for peace of mind.

(Experiencee of the world's worst FXR)

RE: *My bad, there aren't much for around $2k. The prices has gone up since last week!

If you can make it on Kiwibiker you can make it anywhere.

Only problem is that I'm in D'orkland..

Ended up walking away from the bike. Would rather hold on to my dosh and stick to the bus for awhile than sink into something I'm not totally sure of

Pfft you will fall asleep on an FXR 150. For the same price (or less!) you could take my beast! http://www.sella.co.nz/motoring/moto...sports/6rq2pg/

Maggot was on a 2 stroke 150 as well i believe, so he may in fact fine the 150 four stroke a bit boring. but you never know...

For that price you could buy a tidy RG150.

Yeah I started out with an FXR, and good it was! But you will get a bit bored of it after awhile, especially if there are any hills nearby..... (although going down is ok)
