No hardwiring, I want wireless. Hardwiring looses waterproofedness...

The wifi backpac means you can't use a 2nd battery but means you have a wireless remote so you don't need as much battery life.

16Gb of storage is plenty for 720p @ 25fps and almost 5 hrs of footage.

GoPro have a free download of Cineform editing software, I personally use MS moviemaker with no problems on length of vid, and have been recommended Cyberlink Power director (havent had a chance to give this a go yet) and just to top things off, a very good forum site for GoPro users with any question answered and shown so very innovative mounts and camera angles.
Ahh but they are bigger bulkier & more likely 2 snag up on branches vines etc. & much less survivable in a crash my V.I.O bullet cam captures all the crash as well as the swear words & hits 4rom rocks .It mounts on the side of helmet /hardly noticeable/ cable runs inside my jacket 2 the viewer so I can check the footage & not wait till I get home 2 find out the angle is wrong Ohh & they have had wireless remote for years.

They maybe bigger than some cams out there, but I can testify to their ability to survive crashes ( admit to only crashing on my MTB) and the LCD backpac is a good viewer for cam angle and reviewing footage after the aforementioned crash!
The remote that will be available will wireless stream to multiple devices such as the TV , your mates smart phone or even stream to the cloud via your smartphone mobile internet so everyone can see your mishaps
yet to be proven, though all theory until they release this wireless remote bacpac
Yes I admit to being bias with Gopro, tried a few cams now and the possibilities of mounting the cam to absolutely anything and its robustness has convinced me so.

They'll survive alright but get them snagged on some blackberry or creeper and they'll be pointing at the sky until the next time you stop and take your helmet off.

Or even cause a crash when they snag if mounted on the top of the helmet.

Thought I'd bring this thread back to life.

The Hero 3 Black does loop recording and has wifi for the remote built in.

The wifi back/remote for the Hero 1 & 2 sucks the battery dry at the same rate paused as recording so you have to hit the stop button between good bits.

It can take 10-30 secs for it to pick the camera back up again when starting it again, but I use that time to get a drink before attempting whatever was worth recording...

The Black 3 also sucks the battery dry fast with wifi. I don't even use my remote as I can't even get 50 mins record time from a fully charged battery without the remote. I have to resort to carrying numerous spare and charged batteries.

Regarding photo quality from the Black 3, ok to fairly average. It struggles in high light contrasting situations and often suffers from lens flare. In the following video I took all the still photos (and video) with the Black 3

Overall it takes generally good video in most settings, just dismally disappointed to go through so much screwing around and wait so long to for the continually extended release date of the Black Edition, pay the better part of $900 for the camera, batteries, accessories etc only to find that they have excessively reduced the weight and size to the detriment of the battery life. Fine for some sports/hobbies/sex tapes but 50 mins is not ideal for adventure riding.

Sounds like I was right to stay with the old drift hd170.
better picture and longer battery life. but it still takes all night to charge.

    Well, I've got my 2nd hand Hero2...

    So now it's...
    1. HD Hero
    2. HD Hero2
    3. Contour Roam HD
    4. Contour GPS

    and for testing porpoises only...
    5. Hero 4 (not silver, white, black, session, + or anything else)

The Hero2 is much better in low light than the original and uses the WiFi back/remote better.
The Hero 4 however is not removable from it's case, no wifi, no replaceable battery, 720p 50fps or 1080p 25 fps and takes some quite good footage.
I like the huge reduction in fisheye...

RRP about $250 and it goes quite well.
    I want 720p 25fps though.
Although, as the battery is only good for 2:30 and 720p 50fps fits about 2:30 on a 16gb card, that's not much of an issue.

With all them cameras we will be expecting some cool action videos - don't even mind if they have gorse in them. I'm buying my 1st proper camera tomorrow - its a Lumix FZ1000. Gonna start trying to learn how to do stills now that I've mastered the motion picture lark.....not!
    ....wherezz that track go
