    Things make make you cringe

I know I shouldn't be judgemental, and that everyone is free to make their own choice with safety gear, but I just can't stop myself cringing when I see people with what I feel is inadequate protection.

I was on the Northern Motorway (aka 100km/h) in the weekend near Onewa Road on the North Shore of Auckland, and I see a rider and pillion.
The rider was decked out. Cordura style jacket and pants. Helmet, gloves and a high viz vest. Boots. Fine.

The pillion was wearing a short skirt (and don't ask me for pictures) and jandals. Effectively almost all of their bare legs was exposed.

And I had to cringe. Cringe at what would happen if someone with bare legs came off at 100km/h and went for a slide on the motorway. If both legs hit the ground they would probably end up with an AIS score of 6 - being fatal. You generally can't survive severe injuries to two limbs at the same time.

I think I cringed at the thought of the resulting damage to that human body.

    Anything made you cringe lately?

Just after you clean it???!? Surely you mean at all?!?!? Or is that just my own preference for at least a bare minimum amount of hygiene standards coming through??

No I mean just after I clean it. You know, the people that wait until you're just finished cleaning and then go in leaving behind them 'stains of doom'....

This one time at bandcamp ...

Saw a dad in shorts and sneakers with what looked like a 4 or 5 year old sprog clinging on like a little monkey weaving through St Lukes Rd traffic at a fair clip. The only concession either of them made to safety gear were the helmets.

thought this was me for a bit, but my jacket is leather and I wouldn't touch a hi vis vest. Also the +1 was wearing high heeled boots. I'm gonna get her some protective stuff for xmas. Don't feel comfortable doing any sort of long rides as is.

It's even worse when they do that AS you are cleaning it. Dunno...just something I heard.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Yup yup. For some reason (senile I guess) I read it the first time as leaving sliders up the side of the bowl

    Anything made me cringe?...

Yep, the thought that people might realise I'm a member of this site, and it's conclusive knowledge of all and any situation regarding motorcycles.

    Race pipes on 250s.

FFS people, your Ninja 250 neither goes like, nor sounds like, a GP bike. Grow a brain wanker.
